Michigan Tech Receives $55 Million for Student Wellness Center - Largest Donation Ever! (2026)

Michigan Tech's largest gift ever, a $55 million donation, will fully fund a student wellness center. The Chang K. Park Center for Student Wellness will be a 90,000-square-foot building supporting students' physical, mental, and emotional health. This project aligns with the university's Be Well Initiative, focusing on four key areas: clinical counseling, therapy, telehealth, and a medical clinic; a large fitness center with equipment for all skill levels; communal areas, group rooms, and a welcoming campus lounge; and rooms for meditation, prayer, and stress reduction. The facility, located between the Memorial Union and Administration buildings, will offer instructional spaces, locker rooms, group training rooms, a medical clinic, outreach and prevention offices, and accessible wellness amenities. The center is expected to open in fall 2028, thanks to the generous donation from Park, a 1973 graduate and founder of Universal Remote Control, Inc. This significant gift demonstrates his commitment to the university's mission of holistic student care.
